Abstract
NIST has developed B2B interoperability testbeds to assist the assessment of interoperability among the B2B applications. One of the capabilities provided by the testbeds is content-level test that focused on testing of data semantics. Test harness for the content-level test, however, is only available for XML document. Consequently, the test harness is not flexible enough to respond quickly to test requests for various B2B message standards (e.g., EDI, ASN.1, and STEP). This paper proposes a message-independent test harness for the content-level test that can handle diverse emerging B2B message standards by employing the Message Metamodel a neutral form of messages and the formal model of test guidelines. The paper illustrates a case study for Application Information Mapping Test (AIMT), one of the content-level tests, the goal of which is to assure that an application under test interprets the semantics of message element according to the intended meaning.
