Estimating Uncertainties in Antenna Measurements

Abstract

We describe general methods of estimating uncertainties in antenna measurements. These include estimates based on theory (analysis1), simulation, and altering the measurement system (self-coparison tests). The important component sources of uncertainty in antenna measurement are identified. We discuss the combination of component uncertainties to obtain an overall uncertainty estimate. A sample uncertainty analysis for a plana, near-field measurement is presented.
