Abstract
In recent years silicon photonics has emerged as a powerful enabling technology that is being harnessed to devleop novel, highly sensitive sensing solutions to address problems in environmental and human health related mointoring. Here we have systematically examined the impact of structural parameters on silicon ring resonator-based device's performance by systematically varying the ring radius, waveguide width and gap separting the ring and waveguide. Our results indicate that resonance quality factors of 104 are consistently achieved when the gap is greater than 100 nm, while highest temperature response (∆/∆T) is achieved when gap is 100 nm.
