Summary

The OOF project seeks to provide flexible software for finite-element modeling the behavior of real microstructures, with meshes derived from micrographs.

Description

The OOF project is a software development project designed to make advanced computational modeling capabilities available to materials science researchers who are not themselves computational experts. Researchers bring domain expertise from materials science to assist in building high-quality finite-element meshes which are closely matched to microstructural image data for which the researchers are expert interpreters. The project also provides a convenient interface for adding user-provided constitutive rules, so that users can model classes of materials not anticipated by the development team.
