Melissa Logan (Fed)

Executive Officer

Melissa Logan is the Executive Officer in the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Ms. Logan began her Federal career at NIST in 2014 as an administrative office assistant working with EL’s SMA and six administrative officers.  In 2016, she was promoted to administrative officer to provide financial and administrative oversight and support to the Materials and Structural Systems Division in EL.  After completing a detail as senior management advisor (SMA) in NIST's Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL), in 2021 Ms. Logan was selected as SMA in EL to provide budget and administrative guidance and advice to EL's senior leadership and supervise EL's seven administrative officers.  In 2026, she was selected as Executive Officer.  In this role, she manages EL's operations and administrative processes and serves as senior advisor to EL Director.

Prior to joining the Federal government, she had a career as an administrator and accounts manager with several private companies in the sectors of building components manufacturing, clothing manufacturing, and power plant construction.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications – Public Relations from Hood College in 2001.
