Mahir Mohiuddin (Fed)

NRC Postdoctoral Fellow

Mahir Mohiuddin, Ph.D. is a member of the Cell Systems Science Group under the supervision of John T. Elliott. Mahir received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology & Emory University. Within the joint Georgia Tech/Emory biomedical engineering program, Mahir worked on stem cell therapies for skeletal muscle pathologies, focusing his dissertation on metabolic reprogramming and mitochondrial engineering to enhance the bioenergetic function of the diseased skeletal muscle through stem cell transplantation.

At NIST, Mahir is currently a postdoctoral fellow funded through the National Research Council (NRC), where he is developing innovative strategies to measure single cell dynamics of cultured stem cells (iPSCs) during differentiation. Prior to this appointment, Mahir was a guest researcher at NIST through the Johns Hopkins University PREP (Professional Research Experience Program), through which he assisted in the development of bioprocessing pipelines for cell culture expansion, using genetically engineered T-cells and stem cells as model systems.
