Craig Scott (Assoc)

NIST Associate

Craig J. Scott, Ph.D. is currently volunteering as a NIST Associate to provide perspective and guidance on outreach and education and workforce development, following his service as an Advanced Manufacturing Policy Fellow. Craig received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University.

Craig started his career as a process engineer at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and joined the Naval Research Laboratory in 1983. In 1992, he joined the faculty at Morgan State University. He currently serves as Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Morgan. His research interests are in the areas of engineering education, machine learning, and visual analytics.

Craig is a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and is currently the President of the Inclusive Engineering Consortium (IEC) – a consortium of HBCU electrical engineering departments operating as a “super department.”  He was the inaugural recipient of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association Diversity Award in 2013, has been named a NASA/ASEE Fellow, and provided his services as an Army Science Board consultant. Craig is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
