Cheryl Williams Levey (Fed)

Communications Specialist

Cheryl Williams Levey is a Communications Specialist with over twenty-five years working in the federal and international sectors. She currently provides communications expertise for the Standards Coordination Office (SCO) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). 

In this role, she creates and compiles content for various audiences, including content on Standards.gov, to further international goals in standards development, particularly in critical and emerging technologies. She provides data analyzation of standards development sectors, compilations of global standards news and activities alerts to US industry and other stakeholders, assistance with developing talking points that emphasize the importance of international standards development, and other standards related activities.

Past experience includes working for the Committee on Data (CODATA) compiling information on various research data challenges and issues and assisting with program development and participation in several international data conferences as well as maintaining the previous CODATA website and newsletter. 

Past positions have included working at the National Academy of Sciences, the National Information Standards Organization, the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Institutes of Health (Journal of the National Cancer Institute), and the Department of Defense (DCASR NYC). Cheryl has extensive experience with executive support of large organizations, technical editing (including standards), and planning professional events. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus (formerly University of Maryland University College).
