Bethany Loftin (Fed)

Bethany Loftin serves as an Interagency and iEdison Specialist in the Technology Partnerships Office (TPO) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Ms. Loftin handles policy issues related to the Bayh-Dole regulations of federally-funded inventions, and convenes the interagency working group for Bayh-Dole.

Bethany led NIST’s task force in redesigning iEdison, the central platform for reporting inventions and patents resulting from federal research.  She monitors iEdison’s functionality and its day-to-day administration and is a liaison for the platform’s agency and extramural users.

Before joining TPO, Ms. Loftin served more than eight years as TreMonti Consulting’s Director and Chief Operating Officer. While at TreMonti, she supported numerous technology transfer offices throughout all steps of the commercialization process, with particular emphasis on best practices, assessment and marketing of technologies, the Bayh-Dole regulations, and compliance with the iEdison system. Bethany also has experience as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the State of Tennessee and as an intern at the University of Louisville’s Technology Transfer Office.  

Bethany holds a J.D. from the University of Louisville and received her undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Recording Industry, from Middle Tennessee State University.
