Aziz Kord (Fed)

Electronics Engineer

Aziz Kord is a project lead and wireless communication researcher working with the Shared Spectrum Metrology group since 2016. Before NIST, Aziz worked in various Hardware and Software architecture, development, automation, and testing positions at the US major telecommunication companies for over two decades. Aziz has worked on several projects at Communication Technology Lab and has several publications in wireless technology. Aziz is a member of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), Telecom Infra Project (TIP), and Open RAN (O-RAN) alliance groups. He is interested in collaborating with industries, academia, and other agencies on the topics of Open RAN, 5G, 6G, and beyond.

Awards

  • Bronze Medal for Methodology to measure the impact of newly deployed commercial cellular equipment in 2023. 
  • Allen V. Astin Measurement Science Award for the development and execution of the complex experimental design in 2020. Department of Commerce 
  • Bronze Medal for the development and execution of a complex factor screening process to examine LTE emissions in 2020.  
  • Gold Medal for LTE-GPS interference research in 2017.
