Andrew K. Mundy (Fed)

Andrew Mundy is a systems administrator in the Engineering Laboratory Systems Administration Group (ELSA) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Some of his specialties include analytical troubleshooting to get to the root cause of a customer issue, specialized networks and IT solutions for research, and customer relationship management.

He also serves as the Assistant EL IT Security Officer (ITSO), assisting in the development of IT security solutions for research and the enterprise, responding to and reporting on security incidents, implementing IT security policies and procedures, performing forensic analysis of compromised computers and networks, and assisting the EL ITSO with Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements.

Andrew began his federal career with the United States Marine Corps in 1988, working as a Signal Intelligence analyst and a Financial Management Officer.  After leaving the Marine Corps in 1999, he briefly worked as a IT Project Manager for a local IT contractor, then accepted a position in the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL) in 2002.

His areas of interest include workflow process improvement and wireless networking .  His recent project work includes providing wireless Internet and VoIP service to the edge of the NIST campus,  and providing logistical and operational support for the NIST Disaster and Failure Events Data Repository.

Andrew was awarded the DOC Bronze medal award for outstanding service in 2005.
