AWARD CITATION
Mr. Spidell is recognized for outstanding achievement in measurement science for the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and for exceptional delivery of measurement services for industry, defense, and scientific discovery. His work with LIGO scientists led to a new model for calibrating the entire global network of gravitational wave observatories. Mr. Spidell's work exemplifies his total dedication to quality and safety. In 2023 he led the successful five-year review of the Applied Physics Division's quality system for measurement services. During this time, he was also responsible for the operation of 17 distinct calibration services.
