Dr. Wong-Ng is recognized for 35 years of contributions to the field of crystallography and to the study of phase equilibria in complex solid-state materials. Her work has had an impact on a broad range of applications, including the distribution, conversion, and storage of energy, as well as on carbon capture, which is an essential research component in the mitigation of global warming. Her fundamental materials science research has advanced the design and synthesis of novel thermoelectrics and gas adsorbents. In further support of the field, Dr. Wong-Ng developed standard reference materials and produced reference X-ray diffraction patterns used worldwide by industrial and academic researchers to create new materials and processes.
