The group is recognized for advancing the safety and performance of robots that work side by side with people through first-ever standards for human-robot interaction (HRI), community events focused on measurement science in HRI research, and new metrology tools that allow researchers to increase the impacts of their human studies. The group's efforts have influenced the development of standards for HRI metrology, resulting in new guidelines for human subject studies in HRI research, and increasing the adoption of validated HRI test methods and metrics by industry, academia, and government.
