2024 Bronze Medal Award

AWARD CITATION

The team is recognized for their achievement addressing a critical need for testing of emerging contactless fingerprint acquisition devices, which have the potential to reduce transfer of germs and improve ability to capture prints in operational environments. They have developed a set of protocols, metrics, and tools, compatible with testing of legacy contact fingerprint collection devices, that provide a pathway for use of contactless devices by other agencies. The work has already been used by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security in making decisions about use of the technology.
