Dr. Borchers is recognized for her tireless mentorship of early-career scientists at NIST. As a long-standing co-chair of the SURF and SHIP programs at the NIST Center for Neutron Research, she has enabled exciting research opportunities for high-school and undergraduate students. At the same time, she has mentored NRC postdocs, countless graduate students, and numerous early-career faculty. The scope and effectiveness of Dr. Borchers' guidance and advocacy has been instrumental in developing a more effective and inclusive scientific community at NIST, as well as enhancing the reputation of NIST and NIST's integration with the broader field of condensed matter physics.
