Mr. Lombardi is recognized for his breadth of contributions over four decades of dedicated service as an internationally recognized expert in time and frequency metrology and distribution services. As a bench scientist, he made many key technical contributions to precision time and frequency distribution. As a group leader, he has overseen many of NIST’s most essential and visible time realization and distribution services, including NIST’s radio stations WWV, WWVB, and WWVH, the atomic timescale, and the cesium atomic fountain primary frequency standards. Mr. Lombardi has earned the respect of colleagues at NIST and around the world for his technical expertise, his exemplary work ethic, and his constant willingness to help and mentor others.
