2022 Colleagues' Choice Award

Brian Story is posthumously recognized for his extraordinary service, dedication, initiative, and creativity in providing technical support for structural and fire experiments in the National Fire Research Laboratory that have contributed to safer buildings and more robust infrastructure in the United States. Brian's world-class expertise at programming and operating the hydraulic loading system for structural component testing was central to the success of all NFRL structural fire experiments. He was known as “the go-to person who always had solutions and ideas.” Brian was also a great leader on the NFRL team, mentoring younger, less-experienced staff and giving them the confidence to do the work necessary to make large-scale structural fire tests a reality.
