AWARD CITATION

Poppendieck designed and executed a truly unique laboratory research program to develop innovative measurement procedures for quantifying airborne chemical emissions from spray polyurethane foam insulation. This resulted in significant improvements in the scientific understanding of the physical processes involved in these emissions and led to the promulgation of voluntary consensus standards for characterizing these emissions for use by industry and government agencies.
