Dr. Magee is recognized for his work through the PREP, SHIP, and SURF programs since their respective inceptions at NIST Boulder to provide opportunities for highly qualified students from under-represented groups. In particular, in the past year his efforts broadened the pool of students affiliated with the long-running PREP Thermodynamics Research Center research opportunity to include students from two minority-serving institutions, Metro State University and University of Colorado Denver. He has assumed a leadership role for his division in encouraging mentoring activities and in strengthening the effectiveness of the organization by making use of the diversity among workforce personnel.
