The Economic Development Agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and First Responder Network Authority are issuing a national challenge to create innovative technologies to tackle current barriers in the disaster response and resiliency field with a $1 million grant at stake. By promoting next-level disaster response and resiliency solutions, this challenge will allow networks of organizations to answer the nation’s biggest obstacles, as well as support commercialization and entrepreneurship, in these industries.
The Accelerate Response & Resiliency (R2) Network Challenge will focus on:
- Response innovation – innovation in the communications, technology, and equipment first responders use when responding to disasters and events
- Resiliency innovation – finding new ways to build, protect, and connect networks and infrastructure to help communities recover and build readiness and resilience in the face of future disasters
