In late April 2017, Davina Pruitt-Mentle, NICE Lead for Academic Engagement, participated in multiple events across Michigan to help strengthen state and regional efforts to address the cybersecurity workforce. On April 25th, Davina spoke at the Capitol Area Advisory Group Regional Meeting, in Mason, MI. She spoke on “NICE and Current Best Practices in Career Technical Education” (CTE). Additionally, on April 26th, Davina participated in the Michigan Governor’s Education and Talent Summit in Lansing, MI where she contributed to a panel discussion on the topic of “MICE: Michigan Initiative for Cybersecurity Education.”
Davina also spent time visiting the Pinckney Cyber Training Institute in Pinckney, MI; the Capital Area Career Center Cyber Security and Digital Forensics in Mason, MI; and the Wayne County Community College District in Detroit, MI. Visits included tours of education facilities and allowed her to speak with community college faculty and students and as well as high school instructors and students.
