Thank you to everyone who visited the NIST booth at the USA Science & Engineering Expo! We hope you enjoyed learning about measurement science and all of the amazing work our researchers do.
Three people proved themselves to be measurement experts at our "How Good a Ruler Are You?" measurement challenge. They have each won a personal tour of NIST's laboratories in Gaithersburg, Md., with up to nine of their friends and family.
The Winners:
Hope Rosner and Bella Femia accurately estimated the weight of 20 "golden" paperclips to be 9.2 grams (they weigh 9.256 grams +/- 0.001 mg, to be exact).
Clare Singer came closest to the correct measurement for the distance between two lines on our pre-measured metal bar. She estimated the distance to be 804.06 millimeters (the actual distance was 807.02 mm +/- 0.20 mm).
Thanks to everyone for participating!
