George Y. Onoda has joined the Ceramics Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory in Gaithersburg, Md.
Onoda serves as leader of the Ceramic Characterization and Processing Group and coordinates the International Energy Agency Agreement subtask on powder characterization. He also is initiating a Ceramic Processing Characterization Consortium involving U.S. companies, federal laboratories and universities.
Onoda was formerly with Alfred University of Alfred, N.Y., where he served as professor of ceramics, technical director of the New York State Center for Advanced Ceramics Technology and founding director of the Whiteware Research Center. He is an American Ceramic Society member of the Basic Science Division and served previously as its chairman.
