As the demand for a talented and skilled cybersecurity workforce continues to grow in the United States, so do the programs that are administered by the federal government intended to grow and sustain the cybersecurity workforce for both the public and private sectors. The cybersecurity education initiatives undertaken by the U.S. government are administered by several different federal departments and agencies and are derived from a diverse set of legislative mandates, executive orders, or other directives. This webinar will describe the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) leadership of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), the role of the National Science Foundation in providing grants as part of the CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service Program, the Department of Defense interests in the Information Assurance Scholarship Program now known as the Cyber Scholarship Program, and the expansion of the Department of Homeland Security/National Security Agency Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity.
