CHIPS for America: Creating Inclusive Opportunities for Minority Serving Institutions

Square with rounded edges. Fill of square looks like American flag. Coming off the sides of the square are lines with unfilled circles at end. Words underneath: CHIPS for AMERICA

The U.S. Department of Commerce has made growing and sustaining the semiconductor workforce a priority for both the $39 billion CHIPS incentives program to jumpstart domestic semiconductor manufacturing and the $11 billion CHIPS R&D program. Building on the Department’s stakeholder engagement, CHIPS for America is working to ensure U.S. colleges and universities, including minority-serving institutions are able to respond to the pressing need to triple the number of graduates in semiconductor related fields, including engineering. Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) are critical partners in the effort to increase the number of Hispanic and Native American students attaining degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, which are essential to the American semiconductor workforce development.

This webinar is an introductory and informational CHIPS for America primer that brings together HSIs and TCUs with CHIPS for America experts. The purpose is for HSIs and TCUs to understand the CHIPS for America program and the diverse opportunities available to minority serving institutions. Join the Chief Opportunity and Inclusion Officer and her colleagues as they walk through the basics of the CHIPS for America program.
