ANSI/NIST-ITL Standard 2011 Workshop

A second draft draft of ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011 now available, which includes changes based on comments received to date. Note that it includes internal hyperlinks (in green) and external ones (in blue) for easier file use.

The First workshop was held in July 2010, the Second workshop for the ANSI/NIST-ITL update for 2011 will be held at NIST on March 1-3, 2011. Please mark your calendar and come to participate!  By coming, your organization will be able to determine what gets included in the final version of the standard that will be put out for a vote.

The standard was first published in 1986 and focused on the exchange of fingerprint information. It has been updated several times, with the latest being the 2007 and 2008 versions. They included updates to handle iris data, data conformant to other standards, and updates to facial and fingerprint data specifications. The two versions are character-separated (binary/traditional) [2007] and NIEM-conformant XML [2008].

This year, several substantial updates have been proposed to NIST-ITL by various organizations. Each will be addressed during the workshop.

We will have a VERY limited number of telephone hookups available. If your group can't send a representative to the meeting, please contact me at brad.wing [at] nist.gov (Brad[dot]Wing[at]NIST[dot]Gov) to see if there are any more connections left.

The First Draft of the 2011 version for this workshop is now available. Please download it and look it over carefully. You can register your comments using this form. E-mail your completed form to me. You can submit several sets of comments (just don't repeat what you have already sent to me). The consolidated comment list will be posted weekly with my suggestion resolution (which may be to discuss it in the workshop). You don't need to repeat a comment that someone else has already submitted (That way I won't receive 100 comments for one typo!)

If your organization has not registered as a canvassee, please complete the FORM and send to Brad Wing by email brad.wing [at] nist.gov (brad[dot]wing[at]nist[dot]gov)
