NIST and the California Public Utilities Commission are holding a meeting on October 16, 2018 to discuss revisions and updates to the Smart Grid Interoperability Framework. At this meeting, NIST will utilize a smart grid scenario focused on advanced utilization of distributed energy resources (DER) as the foundation for discussion. The NIST high-penetration DER scenario is based on the assumption that DER deployments will accelerate into the future, and will require better integration into grid operations. This workshop will feature speakers from across the West discussing the role of interoperability, and how interoperability for DERs addresses issues in the Western grid and enables new interactions between devices at different system levels. Attendees will also provide feedback to NIST regarding topics important to the region.
Limited travel stipends are available through NARUC for commissioners and commission staff in the region. Please e-mail Kerry Worthington at rafts [at] naruc.org (rafts[at]naruc[dot]org) to inquire further.
The meeting will be held in the California Public Utilities Commission auditorium, which can be accessed through the double doors on the right hand side of the CPUC building courtyard.
