RAMP: Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes

RAMP - Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes

NIST has organized a challenge competition to produce models of manufacturing processes conforming to the ASTM E3012-16 standard.  E3012-16 provides guidance for characterizing manufacturing processes in a manner that allows  meaningful sustainability performance analysis.  The model that best demonstrates how  E3012-16 can achieve a more robust, optimized, and less environmentally taxing manufacturing process will take the top prize of $1,000.  The 2018 NIST RAMP Challenge is open through April 20.  Finalists will be invited to present their entries in a workshop at ASME MSEC 2018 in College Station, TX, on June 21.

Full competition rules, prizes, and entry information are available at Challenge.gov:   https://www.challenge.gov/challenge/ramp-reusable-abstractions-of-manufacturing-processes/.

NEW WEBINAR:  Highlighting the New UMP Builder Tool , March 26 at 3:30pm EDT
In addition to describing the competition, how to submit entries, and answering questions from viewers, the webinar will showcase the just-updated UMP Builder, an open tool that helps participants record Unit Manufacturing Process models—a main component of the competition.

A recording of a previous webinar describing the competition and how to submit entries is available at https://www.nist.gov/video/ramp-2018-challenge-webinar-what-how-and-where-enter.
