Federal Interagency Materials Representatives (FIMaR) Meeting

Considering the highly multidisciplinary nature of materials research and the multi-agency funding structure in the U.S., better communication and collaboration could facilitate high impact materials research, better serve the research community, effectively share the information and resources, and quickly identify and respond to emerging research areas and needs. An annual Federal Interagency Materials Representatives (FIMaR) meeting is therefore proposed to fulfill such needs.

The primary outcome of the meeting is the establishment of a network for effective communication, coordination, and collaboration between the program managers in materials research. We expect to generate ideas for long term and sustainable materials research in the U.S., sharing the infrastructure for data and information, and long term organization which serves the materials program managers across agencies and bridges OSTP and other funding agencies to address materials research needs.

Program managers in materials research in the U.S. funding agencies (e.g., NSF, DOE, DOD, NIST, NASA) are encouraged to attend. This meeting is open only to Federal employees – please feel free to invite your federal colleagues.
