NIST ITS-90 Fixed-Point Cell Mini-Workshop

ITS-90 Fixed-Point Cell Mini-Workshop logo
The NIST ITS-90 Fixed-Point Cell Mini-Workshop is offered every year and covers the realization of ITS-90 fixed-point cells over the range from the mercury triple point to the zinc freezing point for the calibration of SPRTs and the development of uncertainty statements for the fixed-point cells and subsequently SPRT calibrations.

2014 NIST ITS-90 Fixed-Point Cell Mini-Workshop
November 18-19, 2014
NIST Gaithersburg, Maryland

The ITS-90 Fixed-Point Cell Mini-Workshop is scheduled to be given at the NIST Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometry Laboratory on November 18-19, 2014. The workshop is designed to provide intensive "hands-on" laboratory training in the realization of ITS-90 fixed-point cells. Using standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs), participants will measure the freezing, melting and immersion curves of the ITS-90 fixed-point cells over the range from the mercury triple point to the zinc freezing point. Additionally, part of the course will focus on the development of uncertainty statements for the fixed-point cells and subsequently SPRT calibrations. Time will be split between laboratory (90%) and lecture (10%) sessions. The workshop runs from 0830 h to 1700 h each day.

Who Should Attend:

The workshop is intended for calibration laboratory personnel who are familiar with using ITS-90 fixed-point cells and SPRTs. The participants should each bring a hand-held calculator. Participation is limited to 4 persons per workshop on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional workshops will be held quarterly on an as-needed basis (four wait-listed participants).
