Mary Frances Theofanos is recognized for numerous contributions to the INICTS/M1 – Biometrics and INCITS/SSE – Software and Systems Engineering standards communities and their international mirror groups, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 37 and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 7. INCITS recognizes her dedicated efforts, expertise and willingness to volunteer for numerous roles in more than twenty years of participation in standards activities that are vital to the successful development of national and international standards.
Mary has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the development of groundbreaking international standards for software usability. She championed and served as the project editor for the U.S. fast track of INCITS 354-2001, Common Industry Format for Usability Test Reports in SC7/WG6, resulting in ISO/IEC 25062:2006. Mary also served as Co-Editor of ISO/IEC TR 25060 (2010). Subsequently, from 2006 to 2020, she served as the JTC 1/SC 7 Co-convener of Joint Working Group 28, between JTC1/SC7 and TC159/SC4, which successfully developed a new family of international software usability standards.
