2010 PECASE - Dave Holbrook

PECASE Award

The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) recognizes and honors outstanding scientists and engineers at the outset of their independent research careers in the federal service. The award consists of a special research grant and is based on the candidate's scientific accomplishments and leadership potential and the potential impact of their research on agency goals. The award is coordinated by the President's National Science and Technology Council.

Dr. Holbrook received the PECASE Award for establishing himself as an internationally recognized leader in measurements and analysis of environmental fate and impact of nano-scale material and nanoparticles. Applying NIST's advanced measurement techniques and analytical methodologies in combination with his wastewater treatment process engineering, environmental toxicology and chemical engineering expertise, Dr. Holbrook developed an environmental model system of the freshwater food to study trophic transfer of nanoparticles among freshwater organisms.
