5439: Introduction to the ADDIE Model

This course is intended to provide trainers with the skills in instructional design needed to develop successful training events. These webinars are also recommended as a refresher or review for any trainer already familiar with these concepts.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this class students will be able to:

  1. Identify the five phases of ADDIE that are used in the instructional development process;
  2. Participate in developing a case study using steps of each phase in the ADDIE model;
  3. Describe the learning development tasks an instructor must complete to enable student success and associate tasks with the appropriate phase of the ADDIE process; and
  4. Describe the OWM Procedure for Procedure for Learning Event Design and Implementation and associated tools and resources (will be provided as pre-work reading);
  5. Prepare and submit an example case study worksheet that addresses each phase of the ADDIE model (Post-work. Feedback to be provided).

Prerequisite(s):

None

Pre-Work:

Read OWM Procedure for Learning Event Design and Implementation, and OWM Training Excellence article. Record observations from reading and submit three observations and three questions one week prior to the webinar.

Post-Work:

Read articles on Activities and Assessments, Five Steps of Adult Learning, and Did They Learn. Complete a sample ADDIE Class Plan for a Module or Course. Submit the Student Notes and the example case study worksheet that addresses each phase of the ADDIE model within 30 days. (Feedback to be provided).

Minimum Requirement(s):

Complete pre-work, 100 % attendance, complete all reading assignments, submit course notes, and submit case study example following the ADDIE model.

Audience:

Participants must be currently enrolled in OWM Train the Trainer Program.
