CNST Co-sponsors Global Workshop on Nanoscale Mesaurement Challenges for Energy Applications

One of the biggest scientific challenges in the world is the development of new ways to produce, transport, and sustain energy in the 21st Century, and nanotechnology holds many of the keys to addressing that challenge. It’s one reason the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology is cosponsoring a workshop on overcoming nanoscale measurement obstacles for use in energy applications. The other sponsors include the ASME, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at the State University of New York, University at Albany.

The workshop will feature speakers from NIST, NREL and the CNSE, and it will focus on how to identify the biggest challenges for measurement of properties at the nanoscale. Some discussions will focus on: 

• Current properties measured at the nanoscale for energy applications
• Current measurement techniques and improvements that may be valuable
• Desired measurements that cannot be made today and anticipated value to the scientific community
