1. Tunable Spin Qubit Coupling Mediated by a Multi-Electron Quantum Dot
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 6/4/2015
Authors: Vanita Srinivasa, Haitan Xu, Jacob M Taylor
Abstract: We present an approach for entangling electron spin qubits localized on spatially separated impurity atoms or quantum dots via a multi-electron, two-level quantum dot. The effective exchange interaction mediated by the dot can be understood as the si ...

2. Photon-Efficient High-Dimensional Quantum Key Distribution
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 6/12/2014
Authors: Tian Zhong, Hongchao Zhou, Ligong Wang, Gregory Wornell, Zheshen Zhang, Jeffrey Shapiro, Franco N.C. Wong, Robert Daniel Horansky, Varun Boehm Verma, Adriana Eleni Lita, Richard P Mirin, Thomas Gerrits, Sae Woo Nam, Allessandro Restelli, Joshua C Bienfang, Francesco Marsili, Matthew Shaw
Abstract: We demonstrate two high-dimensional QKD protocols - secure against collective Gaussian attacks - yielding up to 8.6 secure bits per photon and 6.7 Mb/s throughput, with 6.9 bits per photon after transmission through 20 km of fiber.

3. Building one-time memories from isolated qubits
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 1/14/2014
Author: Yi-Kai Liu
Abstract: One-time memories (OTM's) are a simple type of tamper-resistant cryptographic hardware, that can be used to implement many forms of secure computation, such as one-time programs. Here we investigate the possibility of building OTM's using "isola ...

4. Imaging topological edge states in silicon photonics
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 10/20/2013
Authors: Mohammad Hafezi, Jingyun Fan, Alan L Migdall, Jacob M Taylor
Abstract: Systems with topological oder exhibit exotic phenomena including fractional statistics. While most systems with topological order have been electronic, advances in our understanding of synthetic gauge fields have enabled realization of to ...

5. Entangled photon generation in a phase-modulated, quasi-phasematched crystal
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 10/14/2013
Authors: Paulina S Kuo, Jason S. Pelc, Oliver T Slattery, Yong-Su Kim, Xiao Tang
Abstract: We propose a scheme to generate polarization-entangled photon pairs by spontaneous parametric downconversion in a phase-modulated, type-II, quasi-phasematched (QPM) crystal. Instead of using two distinct crystals to generate |HV>and |VH> stat ...

6. Mode reconstruction of a light field by multi-photon statistics
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 7/15/2013
Authors: Elizabeth A Goldschmidt, Fabrizio Piacentini, I. Ruo Berchera, Sergey V Polyakov, Silke Peters, Stefan Kuck, Giorgio Brida, Ivo Pietro Degiovanni, Alan L Migdall, Marco Genovese
Abstract: Knowing the underlying number and structure of occupied modes of a light field plays a crucial role in minimizing loss and decoherence of quantum information. Typically, full characterization of the mode structure involves a series of several separ ...

7. Implementation of generalized quantum measurements for unambiguous discrimination of multiple nonorthogonal coherent states
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 6/18/2013
Authors: Francisco E. Becerra Chavez, Jingyun Fan, Alan L Migdall
Abstract: Generalized quantum measurements can perform perfect discrimination of nonorthogonal states by allowing for inconclusive results, task which is impossible performing only measurements with definite outcomes. We demonstrate the realization of genera ...

8. Efficient, low-noise, single-photon frequency conversion
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 6/9/2013
Authors: Paulina S Kuo, Jason S. Pelc, Oliver T Slattery, Yong-Su Kim, M. M. Fejer, Xiao Tang
Abstract: We demonstrate simultaneous low-noise and efficient frequency conversion in a periodically poled LiNbO3 waveguide with spectral filtering. We achieve >50% external conversion efficiency and 600 noise counts per second at peak conversion.

9. Demonstrating a High Symmetric Single-Photon Heralding Efficiency in Spontaneous Parametric Downconversion
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 5/6/2013
Authors: Marcelo Pereira, Francisco E. Becerra Chavez, Boris L. Glebov, Jingyun Fan, Sae Woo Nam, Alan L Migdall
Abstract: We demonstrate a symmetric, single-spatial mode, single-photon heralding efficiency of 84% for a type-II spontaneous parametric downconversion process. This achievement of high efficiency, single-spatial mode collection is key to enabling many quantu ...

10. Experimental test of an event-based corpuscular model modification as an alternative to quantum mechanics
Topic: Quantum Information
Published: 2/13/2013
Authors: Giorgio Brida, Ivo Pietro Degiovanni, Marco Genovese, Alan L Migdall, Fabrizio Piacentini, Sergey V Polyakov, Paola Traina
Abstract: We present the first experimental test that distinguishes between an Event-Based Corpuscular Model (EBCM)9) of the interaction of photons with matter and quantum mechanics. The test looks at the interference that results as a single photon passes t ...
