Attendees must wear their conference badge at all times while on the campus. For information on registering for specific conferences, please visit our conference page.

Site Access for Visitors with Disabilities

NIST visitors and conference attendees with disabilities are able to remain in their vehicles for the clearance process rather than having to exit their vehicles. In Gaithersburg, these visitors should access the site using Gate F. Gate F is located on Muddy Branch Dr. between West Side Drive and Palmspring Dr. In Boulder, access will be via the main front gate and visitors should coordinate with their NIST sponsor.

*UPDATE: New Visitor Access Requirements

Effective July 21, 2014, under the REAL ID Act of 2005, federal agencies, including NIST, can only accept a state-issued driver’s license or identification card for access to federal facilities if issued by states that are REAL ID compliant or have an extension.

DHS has granted Alaska and Massachusetts extensions, expiring October 10, 2015, permitting Federal agencies to accept for official purposes driver’s licenses and identification cards issued by these states.

This change brings the number of states currently subject to REAL ID enforcement to eight: Arizona, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, Washington, and American Samoa.

NIST will accept only enhanced driver’s licenses (identified by the American Flag on the face of the card) from three additional states: Minnesota, New York, and Washington State.

Driver’s licenses from all other states and territories are Real ID-compliant or have an extension. See map below.

NIST currently accepts other forms of federally issued identification in lieu of a state-issued driver’s license, such as a valid:

Passport Passport Card • DOD’s Common Access Card (CAC)
• Veterans ID • Federal Agency HSPD-12 IDs • Military Dependents ID
• Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)  • TSA Trusted Traveler ID
