Member Benefits

Membership can be purchased at one of two tiers, either the "standard" or the "expert user" tier, through payment of an annual membership fee. Both tiers feature access to nSoft staff led research programs, including membership on the nSoft steering committee, and educational programs including on-site access at the NCNR during execution of the research program. The "expert user" tier is designed to provide additional access to instrumentation for members wishing to direct their own non-proprietary research programs through nSoft resources.

Standard Tier Members

Members receive access to a leading research program in soft materials and advanced neutron-based measurement science, including state of the art neutron beams, instrumentation, and dedicated expert staff members. Specifically, all standard tier members will receive on an annual basis:

·  Eligibility to propose and participate in crafting of new research themes to be executed by nSoft staff members. Members participate through quarterly teleconferences and a planning session at the annual members meeting. New research themes are generally discussed and formally adopted at the annual nSoft members meeting.

·  Web-based tracking of progress updates on nSoft research projects.

·  Access to nSoft research reports including specifications of equipment design, measurement protocols, and important research results.

·  Copies of consortium led research publications in conference proceedings, peer reviewed journals, and presentations by nSoft staff members at external conferences.

·  At least one training course provided by a founding member for up to 2 personnel designated by each member institution.

·  On-site access to the NCNR facilities.

·  Registration for the nSoft annual meeting of up to 2 personnel.

Expert User Tier Members

In addition to the benefits outlined above for Standard tier membership, members of the Expert User Tier will receive on an annual basis:

·  Nine days of non-proprietary expert user instrument time designated for member-specific research.

·  Assistance from nSoft staff in experimental planning, instrument configuration, data collection, and data analysis related to expert user time experiments.

The expert user tier provides members a capacity to direct their own research programs using neutrons outside of the nSoft research programs. Non-proprietary time can be converted to a proprietary mode at additional cost.
