WiSTEM is recognized for fostering an inclusive work environment and professional development opportunities for the NIST community at all career and educational levels across NIST. The WiSTEM team has led a volunteer organization that has worked tirelessly on behalf of NIST staff by creating professional and personal development opportunities in a range of formats – from the WiSTEM Career Empowerment Summit to flash mentoring events to NIST viewing of the film "Picture a Scientist." These events have fostered conversations across NIST about how to make NIST a more inclusive environment for all staff.
