Popular Science Magazine Names Spielman One of Science's 'Brilliant Ten'

The National Institute of Standards and Technology's Ian Spielman is highlighted in the November, 2010, issue of Popular Science, where the magazine's editors have named him to their annual "Brilliant Ten" list.

Spielman was lauded for his atomic physics work, which one day could help solve problems associated with creating high-temperature superconductors and quantum computers. The story appears on pp. 74-75 of the issue.

Each year, the magazine queries academic department heads, journal editors and professional organizations about the most creative and important research in the country and the individuals making it happen. From the hundreds of responses, the magazine chooses 10 who they consider the nation's most promising young researchers—those who are just starting to get noticed for work that is pushing their fields in new directions.
