TechSolve Training Maximizes B&G Foods Frontline Leadership Potential

With a rich history spanning more than 125 years and a presence across multiple locations, B&G Foods of Cincinnati, Ohio, provides employment opportunities to over 2,500 individuals. The company has cultivated a wide-ranging portfolio of brands featuring an array of products ranging from spices to snacks. Currently, the company boasts over 50 beloved brands. As a food industry leader, B&G Foods is deeply committed to bolstering and contributing to the communities where they operate. The Challenge

B&G Foods faced a challenge with their newly appointed team leaders who lacked prior experience in people management. The organization sought training to develop crucial skill sets including conflict resolution, problem-solving, and coaching to enhance the leadership and interpersonal abilities of these team leaders. B&G Foods partnered with TechSolve, part of the Ohio MEP and the MEP National Network™, to address their training needs.

MEP's Role

TechSolve designed a comprehensive 10-week training program that included Tooling U/SME courses that are housed on an online learning management system as pre-work. This pre-work was followed by in-person training sessions, plus homework aimed at practical skill application. To ensure cohesive leadership and effective employee support, TechSolve also included supervisors in the training program so they could also learn the the skills that had been shared with their team leads. The program encompassed a wide range of critical courses including Problem Solving, Lean Overview, Coaching, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Lean Metrics, Business Financials, Team Building, and Communication, each of which equipped B&G Foods new Team Leaders with the essential skills needed to excel in their roles and enhance their leadership capabilities.
