| Abstract: |
The discussion presents a critique of a paper published in the Journal of Structural Engineering, Aug. 2002, pp. 1082-1086. The main points of the discussion are: (1) the ASCE Standard definition of wind profiles is inconsistent with the ASCE definition of the ratio between peak gust speeds and mean wind speeds, and (2) it is desirable for the ASCE Standard to adopt the more scientifically based logarithmic description of wind profiles, which has already been adopted by the Australian Standard and the Eurocode. |
