Abstract

A round robin testing program for IEA Annex II Subtask 12 was carried out to test procedures for measurement of moisture and binder content of alumina granules. The granules provided by Japan, were produced with 1.0% binder by mass and contained approximately 0.25% moisture. The spray dried alumina granules and the testing protocols were distributed laboratories in the U.S., Germany, and Japan, for interlaboratory testing. Eleven laboratories participated int his study. They reported three measurements each on moisture content, measured as loss in mass fraction (%) on heating to 105%C; and binder content, measured as the loss in mass fraction (%) on heating to 500 C; and binder content, measured as the loss in mass fraction (%) on heating to 500 C.
