Abstract

Calibration uncertainties for capsule type standard platinum and rhodium-iron resistance thermometers are reviewed and updated. Calibration procedures, thermometer characteristics, scale realization methods, and measurement techniques are described in detail. Expanded uncertainties are tabulated for calibrations of standard platinum resistance thermometer between 13.8033 K and 505.078 K and for rhodium-iron resistance thermometers between 0.65K and 83.8058 K. The calibration uncertainties are revised estimates of similar assessments presented earlier in NISTIR 5319 for the capsule type thermometers. The revision is primarily due to recent advances in ITS-90 realizations at NIST below 83.8058 D.
