Abstract: We have measured the spin-dependence for elastic and superelastic scattering of spin-polarized electrons from optically prepared sodium atoms at selected incident energies from 1.0 to 54.4 eV and for scattering angles ranging from 10-degrees to 140-degrees. Results are presented in terms of physical parameters which emphasize the effects of exchange during collision. The data are compared with predictions from theoretical electron scattering calculations.
