| Title: | High Contrast Coherent Population Trapping Resonances Using Four Wave Mixing in 87Rb. |
| Published: | May 15, 2007 |
| Abstract: | We demonstrate a simple technique to generate coherent population trapping (CPT) resonances with very high contrast using four wave mixing in 87Rb atoms. In the experiment, we take advantage of the spectral overlap between F=2 -> F'=2 and F=3 -> F'=2 optical resonances on the D1 line of 87Rb and 85Rb atoms respectively to eliminate the DC-light background from the CPT resonance signal. We observe a CPT resonance with contrast in the range of 90%, limited mainly by the spectral purity of the laser mode. |
