Sumit Bhushan is a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. He is part of the Quantum Communication and Networks project at NIST since October 2019. His specific research area is experimental and theoretical quantum memory (QM) using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in an atomic medium. Before joining NIST, he earned his PhD in the above mentioned research area from the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna in May 2019. He has earned a Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree in Engineering Physics and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical Engineering.
