Qi An (Assoc)

Research Associate

Dr. Qi An is a research associate in the Security Technologies Group as part of the Materials Measurement Laboratory (MML) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. She has cross-disciplinary research experience and broad theoretical background in materials, mechanical and chemical engineering, with focus on composites and nanomaterials manufacturing, characterization and applications. She possesses technical experience in both experimental and analytical mechanics for materials and process engineering applications.

  • Advanced multi-functional hybrid composite materials 
  • Nanomaterials processing, characterization and applications 
  • Nanomaterial-based sensing devices, in-situ damage sensing and structural health monitoring 
  • Apply Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique to experimental mechanics 
  • Additive manufacturing of fiber reinforced polymer composites 
  • Nanomaterial innovated fiber composites modeling
