Current Research Activities

  • Development of a next-generation infrared hyperspectral imaging technique to perform label-free bioimaging of live cells in aqueous environment and assess the concentration of key biomolecules with chemical identity/SI traceability
  • Characterization of the structural change of peptide drugs using highly sensitive Infrared Spectroscopy

Research Experience

  • Development of novel graphene quantum dots using bottom-up/top-down approach, characterize their optical/structural properties using various spectroscopic/microscopic techniques and utilize those materials to fabricate optoelectronic devices (LEDs, solar cells, photodetectors)
  • Utilization of graphene quantum dots in biological applications (in-vitro/in-vivo bioimaging, drug/gene delivery, pH-dependent fluorescence-based ratio-metric cancer sensing)
  • Investigation/modification of the optical/structural properties of other carbon-based nanomaterials (graphene, reduced graphene oxide, graphene oxide, single-walled carbon nanotubes) and exploration of their suitable applications in biotechnology/optoelectronics.
