Coimbatore Balram, Krishna
Krishna C. Balram is a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group. He received a B.E. in Electronics and Instrumentation from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. His doctoral research focused on the design and fabrication of nanophotonic structures for applications ranging from multispectral imaging sensors to sub-wavelength plasmonic slot waveguides, aperiodic plasmonic nanoslit couplers for demultiplexing, and nanoscale resonant germanium sub-wavelength photodetectors for on-chip optical interconnects. He is working with Kartik Srinivasan developing techniques for measuring strong light-matter interactions in chip-based optical cavities and for sensing and signal transduction at the quantum level using cavity optomechanics.
